Compressors, Rotatives, Submarines and Civil Aerospace have all won Achievement Awards in the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

In recognition of their Health and Safety performance in 2010-2011, the Submarines, Compressors and Rotatives teams won the President's Award after receiving at least 10 consecutive Gold Awards. In Civil Aerospace, the Civil Large engines team were recognised for having five consecutive Gold Awards.
Safety charity, RoSPA launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.

These Awards gave the teams the opportunity to highlight their ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards.

One of the winners, the Rotatives team, explained how they had to provide evidence of a good health and safety management system by answering key performance questions and supporting the answers with a concise portfolio of relevant documentation.

Chris Harris HS&E Advisor for Rotatives said of gaining this prestigious award, “Teamwork showed the ability to work together toward this achievement. Rotatives recognises both individual and teamwork accomplishments to meet not only our own common organisational objectives, but also to share best practice amongst other Rolls-Royce groups”.

John Holt, Director Health, Safety and Environment in Rolls-Royce said “Winning these awards demonstrates the fantastic efforts being made across the organisation to improve Health and Safety practice and performance and I’d like to congratulate everyone involved”.
